Frequently Asked Questions
Here you can find answers to the most commonly asked questions, such as how to upload a map or how to play a downloaded map.
Where do I put maps I've downloaded?
When you download a map you will need to place the folder in a certain location for Minecraft to be able to find it. There are several ways to get to this folder.

The easiest way to get to this folder is to go to
%appdata%\.minecraft\saves

You can also use one of the following based on your operating system (You may need hidden files turned on!)

For Vista/Windows 7 users:
C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves

For Windows XP users:
C:\Documents and Settings\your_username\Application Data\.minecraft\saves
How do I upload maps?
To upload a map all you have to do is place the map files (see 'Where do I put maps I've downloaded' for location) into a .zip folder, along with another folder named 'Images' with any pictures of the map you want to include. You must include at least one image.

If you are not comfortable with creating your own zip archives we have developed a tool to help you create them as easily as possible. Our tool will automatically compress any map and images you select and place the zip archive on your desktop ready for upload.
